Michael Vick fails miserably with attempt to troll Cowboys fans

Share

If you’re going to try and use facts to taunt an opponent in a debate, it helps to use facts that aren’t easily debunked by anyone with either a functioning memory or five minutes’ worth of time to check Pro Football Reference.

But then again, Michael Vick was never the sharpest knife in the drawer.

When he appeared on stage at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium during the NFL draft Friday night, Vick smugly declared, “For the record, I never lost to Dallas.”

Perhaps he meant the Dallas Mavericks? Because Vick never played basketball, so he couldn’t have lost to them.

Assuming he meant the Dallas Cowboys, he was 4-2 against them as a starter.

Not only did he lose to Dallas, he managed to do it while wearing two different uniforms in his career.

The Atlanta Falcons, with Vick at the helm, lost at home to the Cowboys 38-28 on Dec. 16, 2006, in a game that was nationally televised.

The Cowboys also beat Vick’s Eagles twice in 2012, although Vick was injured early in the 38-23 loss at home; Nick Foles took over after Vick had thrown just nine passes and remained at the helm for the remainder of the season.

Vick is no stranger to saying stupid things in the media.

Do you admire Michael Vick?

He famously went full “Monty Python” Spanish Inquisition sketch when he said, “I have two secret weapons: my legs, my arms, and my brain.”

Some commenters said Vick probably meant that he never lost in Dallas rather than he never lost to Dallas; both of his losses to the Cowboys were home games.

Vick was clearly trying to rile up the crowd and get them going to create some drama, but he failed miserably.

Twitter, meanwhile, got on the NFL hard for letting Vick have a platform; the 11th anniversary of Vick getting busted on April 24, 2006, for running a dog-fighting ring is still fresh in the minds of many a dog lover:

And as others pointed out, that loss in 2006 on the field wasn’t exactly a forgettable game; it was one of the chippiest, nastiest games the Falcons and Cowboys ever played:

Others compared abusing dogs with kneeling during the national anthem:

In any event, the last laugh will go to the winner when the Cowboys play the Falcons in Atlanta on Nov. 18.
