Moment Orphan Finds Out Family in US Wants To Adopt Him He Starts Crying
Adoption is a beautiful thing. It provides children in need of good and loving homes an opportunity to feel loved and safe and secure.
While many families interested in adoption are looking for newborns, there are also plenty of older children hoping to find a place to call home.
Kidsave is a nonprofit organization whose “mission is to create change so children grow up in families and connected to caring adults.”
There are many opportunities the organization offers for anyone interested in helping orphaned and foster children.
The Barkey family from California happened upon Kidsave though social media, as reported by Happily. That’s how parents JoBen and Amanda found 11-year-old Sebastian from Columbia.
Over the summer, JoBen, Amanda and their 4 children hosted Sebastian in their home, but they couldn’t let him in on their special secret — they wanted to adopt him!
“We were just so excited to meet him and get to know him and start this journey,” Amanda said in a video on Facebook.
JoBen and Amanda both recounted how Sebastian got along really well with each of their children. But those 5 weeks flew past and soon it was time to say goodbye.
The Barkeys recalled how hard it was to send Sebastian back to Columbia. Amanda explained how Sebastian broke down.
Little did this boy know goodbye wouldn’t last forever. Soon Amanda and JoBen told their kids they wanted to make Sebastian a permanent part of their family.
Asher, Judah, Mishayla, and Jameis were thrilled to hear the good news. They cheered and couldn’t wait to have their brother back.
But the most heartwarming moment came when the Barkeys finally got to tell their new son. Watch the heartwarming journey that leads up to the moment Sebastian has been waiting for.
I love how they speak in his native language, involving each of the other children, as they ask him to be a part of their family.
“I am very happy,” Sebastian said. “Because I finally have a family who I will stay with for my whole life.”
The U.S. has approved the Barkeys to sponsor Sebastian’s immigration through adoption, and according to Happily, the family hopes to visit Colombia before Christmas at which point they will be able to make everything official.
The adoption is quite costly and the Barkeys are asking for donations which will go toward the expensive process.
“When everything is finished and all payments submitted… this international adoption will cost [approximately] $50,000,” their fundraiser story on Facebook says.
