They Keep Nagging Him for Weeks To Check Lottery Ticket, Turns Out To Be $86 Million Winner

Share

Winning the lottery is something many people dream of. The million-dollar prizes can change your life, but in reality, you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than hitting the jackpot.

Unless, of course, you are Andrew Clark.

The British man had built up quite the collection of lottery tickets, according to Sky News.

However, Clark had a large pile of unchecked tickets sitting in his van.

When the EuroMillions lottery announced that no one had come forward as a winner of the jackpot worth $86 million USD, Clark’s partner Trisha Fairhurst and her niece nagged him to check his lottery tickets.

He just laughed the whole thing off.

“It was something of a standing joke that I had all these tickets while there was a local prize outstanding, so for weeks they were on me to check,” Clark told Sky News.

It just never occurred to Clark that he could be the one that would win the $86 million prize.

Do you play the lottery?

But the nagging finally got to him and Clark decided to go through the large pile of tickets in his van.

And sure enough, there sat the winning EuroMillions lottery ticket.

“It almost feels like a Christmas story, the man who nearly lost [$86 million]!” Clark told Sky News.

The jackpot was the 12th largest ever offered in the U.K. And Clark was the rightful winner of it all!

If it weren’t for the persistence of Trisha and her niece, he may never have realized that he was the winner of such a large prize.

The windfall is certainly a boon for Clark, and he will surely enjoy every minute of his jackpot.

Clark’s story just goes to show that even if the odds seem stacked against you, be sure to check those lottery tickets as you just never know if you will be the winner!
