NBA star attacks Kevin Durant, triggers ugly feud
Since leaving Oklahoma City for Golden State, thing have worked out well for Kevin Durant.
He’s won two NBA titles, and been the Finals MVP both times.
For his service, Durant has been paid $51 million, and just signed a two-year extension worth $61 million.
But it sure seems like he’s got a case of “rabbit ears,” because he feels obligated to respond to nearly every critic.
Last week, Durant joined the podcast of Blazers guard C.J. McCollum, who brought up a topic that many people are thinking: How bad it is for the league for DeMarcus Cousins to join the two-time defending champions?
“I was hot,” McCollum said of his initial reaction to hearing of Cousins’ signing. “I don’t know if I was more mad than when you wanted to go. I think I was more mad when he did it.”
“Why are you mad about this stuff?” Durant asked.
“Why am I mad about this stuff?’ I’m in the Western Conference,” McCollum said. “I’ve got to play you M.F.-ers all the time anyway as it is, over and over again. We’ve gotten eliminated by you guys a few times in the first round, so I’m looking at [Cousins].”
Durant offered a subtle but powerful putdown.
“You know you guys aren’t going to win a championship. Don’t worry about what goes on up top,” added Durant.
Well, as the great Richard Dawson used to say, “It’s time to play the feud!
McCollum felt disrespected, something that was noticed on Twitter by Barstool Sports’ “Big Cat.”
Hey @CJMcCollum permission to start using the B word again for KD? https://t.co/jSnfg8gDvB

I still think the b word is harsh and shouldn’t be used. . He know that decision was soft but I respect it. It’s like getting jumped with ur brothers by a gang you should’ve beat then joining the gang that jumped u and ur brothers 2 months later & forgetting about your bros https://t.co/BFGqQy1lwR

That was pretty mature of CJ not to encourage the “b word,” and a funny analogy as well.
It seemed to be in a joking manner, but Durant — as has become his wont — didn’t take it that way.
That’s a fair point. After all, it wasn’t very hospitable for McCollum to attack his guest; but still, c’mon guys.
Durant is likely still stinging from the story that broke about his burner Twitter account, then got even more defensive.
So they can keep talking but I have to shutup? Sounds fishy to me but u know what, I’m not even allowed to be on here since I’m in the nba. Lemme fall back. My bad

For his part, McCollum later went on Twitter to say that all is well between the himself and Durant.
There is no feud y’all gotta chill. It was simply an analogy. I’m done speaking on KD and the warriors bc it’s childish of me to do so and soft lol (will be taken out of context). I’ve always said what I feel but we all know I’ve never been a 🐍. Back to the grind pic.twitter.com/93B39bqKTS

So it now looks like Durant has a beef with McCollum to go along with his feud with Russell Westbrook.
For a guy who was once considered one of the NBA’s “good guys,” he sure has taken to the villain role.
