NCAA Football Player Hospitalized After Being Shot at Pool Party
A freshman on the Texas Tech football team was allegedly shot at a party Saturday night.
According to KBCD-TV in Lubbock, the player is redshirt freshman John Scott III.
Scott was listed in critical condition, reported KCBD. Another person also reportedly shot, 19-year-old Kiana Pipkins, sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Both victims were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
As of Sunday morning, Scott was still at UMC in critical condition, according to KCBD. Pipkins had reportedly been released.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex about a mile from the Texas Tech campus. It reportedly took place at a pool, where a fight broke out, according to KCBD.
The fight escalated, reported KCBD, and a gun was drawn. The suspect fired multiple shots, hitting Pipkins and Scott.
Lubbock Police have identified a suspect, 24-year-old Asia Devine Jackson, reported KCBD.
An arrest warrant for aggravated assault was issued for Jackson, who fled the scene and remains at-large.

Police put out a description of Jackson, describing him as a “black male with dreadlocks, approximately 170 pounds and about 5-foot 10-inches tall. Jackson should be considered armed and dangerous,” reported KCBD. Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 or the Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
Scott, from Hitchcock, Texas, is a defensive lineman for the Red Raiders.
“Texas Tech Athletics was made aware of an unfortunate incident this afternoon involving Red Raider redshirt freshman defensive lineman John Scott III, who remains hospitalized at University Medical Center (UMC) at this time,” Texas Tech said in a statement, reported ESPN. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
