Ocasio-Cortez Claims Her Life Has Been Shaped by 'Unaddressed History of Imperialism'

Share

In Murray Kempton’s 1955 book “Part of Our Time,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist reported that during the depths of the Great Depression, American Communist screenwriters, some of whom pulled in $80,000 a year, referred to themselves as “prisoners of starvation.”

Such is the case with democratic socialist congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Despite having a comfortable childhood in the Bronx before moving at age 5 to the affluent New York suburb of Yorktown Heights, she claims she came from “poverty.”

While campaigning in Hawaii for Democratic congressional candidate Kaniela Ing, Ocasio-Cortez expressed a kinship with him because both of them had been “shaped by the exact same forces” such as “runaway income inequality” and “poverty.”

But there is no comparison. While the teenage Ocasio-Cortez was attending Yorktown High School, a prestigious school offering academic electives and lacrosse, Ing was forced by the death of his father to work in the pineapple fields of Hawaii while a teenager.

Nevertheless, Ocasio-Cortez believes they share a similar economic background and in addition — in that cliched slogan of the left — both suffered through “an unaddressed history of imperialism.”

She also said Hawaii felt like a “kindred home” because she also comes “from a place of colonized people.”

Never mind the fact that Ocasio-Cortez attended Boston University on a scholarship, interned for U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy and then worked at a digital marketing company.

And if the United States truly was the fascist country she portrays it to be, she would be harassed or imprisoned for belonging to the Democratic Socialists of America.

Do you think Ocasio-Cortez is qualified to serve in Congress?

She is not.

Ocasio-Cortez is buzzword over substance, a master of sloganeering and not of logic.

When challenged by Ben Shapiro, editor-in-chief of the conservative Daily Wire, to appear on his radio show to debate her socialist ideas, she refused, despite his offer to donate $10,000 to her campaign.

In a tweet, Ocasio-Cortez based her refusal on Shapiro being sexist.

“I don’t owe a response to unsolicited requests from men with bad intentions,” she said. “And also like catcalling, for some reason they feel entitled to one.”

Ocasio-Cortez also has yet to provide a practical way to fund her multitrillion-dollar campaign promise of “Medicare for All.”

And when challenged on even the most basic questions, she reveals muddled thinking.

During a CNN interview, she said in one breath that Nancy Pelosi was not the “head of the Democratic Party,” but seconds later, after further questioning by host Chris Cuomo, she stated Pelosi was the head of the party.

Ocasio-Cortez is clearly unqualified to serve in Congress, and not just because she is peddling a bankrupt ideology. Unlike fellow democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, she has no substance behind her spin. She is the product of an educational system that no longer teaches logical thought, merely the correct words to say.
