Photo of Little Boy Breaking into Tears of Pride at Sister's Graduation Goes Viral
We have Mother’s Day and Father’s Day but what about Siblings’ Day? According to National Day Calendar, a day to celebrate brothers and sisters falls on April 10 — but do we really hear much about it?
We should hear more. Sibling love is something to be celebrated. When brothers and sisters share a special bond there is nothing sweeter.
Aundrea and Matthew Smith have witnessed firsthand how truly amazing the relationship between siblings can be.
The Smith children, 8-year-old Derek and 5-year-old Charlee, share a genuine love and respect for one another, even at such a young age.
Charlee recently graduated from pre-K. After the commencement ceremony, Derek gave Charlee a hug and offered some encouraging words.
Aundrea caught the moment on camera and shared it in a post on Instagram that soon went viral. “I just posted it to say, ‘Oh, look at the kids, they had this great moment together,'” Aundrea told USA Today. “I just wanted to share it. I was not expecting it to take off like it did at all.”
But take off it did, with over 20,000 likes in the span of a week. The photo shows Derek giving little Charlee a hug while she’s decked out in her cap and gown.
“Today my daughter graduated from Pre-K,” Aundrea wrote in her caption. “After the ceremony my son walked up to her and gave her a hug. ‘I’m just so proud of you’ he said.”
These words quickly triggered a reaction in Charlee and soon everyone else around them, too.
“Then of course my daughter started crying,” the mom went on. “As we wiped away our tears, my husband asked her, ‘Pumpkin, why are you crying?’ She responded, ‘I’m just so happy.’ We are so blessed.”

“It was such a great moment for us seeing him so moved and happy. We were like, ‘We’re not doing so bad! They love each other,'” Aundrea told TODAY Parents. “She admires him so much. At home, she follows him around wants to do everything he does.”
The two are clearly a couple of peas in the same pod. Their affection for each other is heartwarming and inspiring.

“They definitely have their moments when they get on each others nerves, but they are very close,” Aundrea shared with Inside Edition. “They love each other so much.”
Truly touching. Do you have a sibling who needs a hug today? How about a close friend?
In the words of Aundrea Smith, “Let them know how much they mean to you… call them, text them, or write them a letter. It’s important that we share joy.”
