Poll: Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Cali-Style Handouts to Illegal Immigrants
California has been a bastion of progressivism for decades — but this time, the state seems to have truly outdone itself.
California is set to become the first state in America to provide young, low-income illegal immigrants full-fledged healthcare benefits, while millions of hard-working American citizens struggle.
However, according to Rassmussen Reports, a majority of voters in the United States are opposed to providing such handouts.
In a survey conducted last week, Rasmussen asked a thousand likely voters if they “favor or oppose making health care benefits available to young low-income illegal immigrants” in their state.
The findings showed that 55% of “likely U.S. voters” opposed any initiative that would provide illegal immigrants health care benefits.
Thirteen percent were unsure where they stood on the issue.
The 31% believe that California’s move is the right one and would approve giving illegals health care benefits.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state’s legislature, who are currently wrapping up the final budget proceedings for this initiative, put the plan together.
“The agreement includes funding to let undocumented young adults under age 26 enroll in Medi-Cal, the state’s health insurance program for low-income Californians. But it doesn’t extend that eligibility to undocumented seniors, as state senators had proposed,” The Sacramento Bee reported. “The expansion will take effect Jan. 1, 2020 and cost $98 million in the upcoming fiscal year. It will make California the first state to allow undocumented adults to sign up for state-funded health coverage.”
President Donald Trump’s fight to aid the humanitarian crisis on the border and protect the homeland is certainly not helped by the fact that Democrats want to fund people who are not supposed to be in this country.
The free healthcare plan for illegals is essentially an invitation and incentive for people across central America — and the world, really — to cross the U.S. border, undocumented, in increased numbers. And given the influx America has seen over the past few years, that spells disaster.
Jesus Christ said that “a house divided against itself cannot stand” — and he was exactly right.
How can America function when free healthcare and sanctuary cities for illegals exist alongside Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Border Patrol, who are only trying to do their Constitutional job?
If these conflicting state and federal immigration laws continue to build up, it’s bound to collapse in one way or another.
While the majority of voters still seem to have their head screwed on straight, the 31% approval number would have been much lower a decade or so ago — when people like former Presidents Obama and Clinton, along with Sens. Schumer and Feinstein, demanded that America clamp down on illegal immigration and beef up border security.
But since that’s what Trump supports, Democrats just can’t get behind it.
