Radio Station Plays Special Christmas Music in September for Terminal 2-Year-Old
You may have heard of Christmas in July, but Christmas in September? Now that’s a holiday of a different color.
While most people are thinking about carving pumpkins or heading out on hayrides this time of year, one family is skipping the fall festivities and heading straight for winter.
When Tom and Shilo Allen decided to decorate their house for Christmas a few months early, some people may have thought they needed to look at a calendar.
But the Allens aren’t crazy and they know very well it’s not December. Their reason for celebrating Christmas early has to do with one very special little boy.
Two-year-old Brody Allen was taken to the doctor in May for what his mom and dad thought was an inner ear infection.
“Children’s Hospital informed us that he did not have an inner ear infection,” Todd Allen told WKRC. “Instead, he had four tumors.”
The news that Brody has brain cancer was heartbreaking for his parents. They were told their baby boy would more than likely not last until Christmas.
So they decided if he only had a short time left, they would bring Christmas to him. They went all out, and the community of Colerain Township started rallying around them.
“Neighbors started decorating and putting up lights and displays. It’s just amazing,” Shilo Allen told WKRC-TV in Cincinnati.
But the support for Brody’s early Christmas didn’t stop there. The Allens live in Ohio, and a radio station in Cincinnati decided to jump in with some holiday cheer.
WKRC reported that WARM 98’s morning show hosts Jim Day and Amanda Orlando have been playing a Christmas song once every hour in Brody’s honor.
“We are doing it for this special boy living in Colerain and his family!” Orlando wrote on Facebook. She and her co-host have even taken it one step further.
Day and Orlando are gathering everyone at a local Kroger in support of #TeamBrody. They’re inviting people to dress festively and join them Thursday for some Christmas caroling.
