Reality TV Star Bernie McGee Dead at Age 41, TLC Network Issues Statement
Reality television star Bernie McGee, who appeared on TLC’s “Seeking Sister Wife,” has died at age 41, according to People.
McGee reportedly suffered from heat stroke and a heart attack and died on June 15 in Jackson, Mississippi.
“Our hearts go out to the McGee family following the loss of husband and father Bernie McGee,” TLC said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”
McGee leaves behind his wife, Paige McGee, and their sons David, Nathan, Scott, John and Kyle.

According to a GoFundMe campaign set up on the family’s behalf, McGee was outdoors on a bicycle when the crisis occurred.
“Paige received a call from Bernie while he was riding his bicycle to let her know he wasn’t feeling well. Paige immediately went to get him but by the time she reached him EMS had to tell her what no wife and mother is ever prepared to hear,” campaign organizers wrote.
“Bernie passed away due to heat stroke/heart attack.”
According to TLC, the McGee family was featured on season 2 of “Seeking Sister Wife,” a reality television series that follows families looking to add another woman to the family through polygamy.
On the show, the McGee family briefly considered adding Brandy to their family, but things did not work out. Brandy posted a tribute to McGee on her Instagram page, writing, “Thoughts and prayers for the McGee family.”
Bernie and Paige chose to participate in the reality show after losing their Mississippi home to a fire, as they were eager for a fresh start, TLC stated.
Ginny Marble, creator of the GoFundMe campaign, wrote that Bernie and Paige had a committed love for one another and their children and were focused on what they could give to others.
“Bernie and Paige McGee loved each other and their children unconditionally,” the GoFundMe campaign read. “Always helping others even though they were fighting their own battles. After losing everything to a house fire they were just beginning to get everything back together again.”
According to his obituary, Bernie, who passed just before Father’s Day, loved the outdoors. “He never met a stranger and loved his family and friends very much,” it read. “Bernie was full of life.”
