July 21, 2019, would have marked Robin Williams’ 68th birthday. Even to this day, the comedian and actor is remembered for the impact he made on the world, bringing joy to so many over his lifetime.
In recent months, many fans have paid tribute to one of Williams’ most famous roles as Genie from Disney’s “Aladdin.” One particular piece of fan art went viral across social media, depicting the original blue guy next to a rendering of Will Smith’s take on the character.

“I know Genies don’t have Feet…” Smith wrote on Facebook. “But you left some Big Shoes to fill. R.I.P., Robin!”
Williams sadly died by suicide on August 11, 2014. He suffered from depression. He is survived by his children Zak, Zelda and Cody and his wife, Susan Schneider.
“We are beyond thrilled he chose us to be his parents, and obviously think he’s the best, smartest, and cutest baby ever!!” Olivia June shared on Instagram.
Now Williams’ youngest son, Cody, has also chosen to honor his dad by making July 21 an even more important date for their family.
Only daughter Zelda Williams shared why her brother and new sister-in-law, Maria Flores Williams, chose their late father’s birthday as their wedding day in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“The 21st of July has meant many things to me over the years…” Zelda began. “…it was the day my Dad was born, and the last day I got to see him.”
Zelda went on to explain how “That last one had begun to usurp the joy of the first two in recent years… that is, until two days ago, when it became something new.”
She shared how she “gained a new sister” and called the bride and groom “a light in all of our lives.” Zelda expressed her gratitude and offered her genuine congrats to the happy couple.
July 21 will always be a reminder of everything this family has lost. But now it is also the day they will celebrate all they’ve gained.
Best wishes and congratulations, Cody and Maria! Robin Williams would undoubtedly be touched to know you chose to honor him in this way.
