Scaramucci Appears at Biden Campaign Event, Insists He Hasn't Gone Full Democrat
If Anthony Scaramucci isn’t a full-on Democrat yet, he certainly has a funny way of showing it.
Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director for 11 infamous days back in 2017, has been in the news recently because he’s turned Brutus on Julius Caesar and says the Republicans need to ditch Trump to put a new candidate atop the ticket.
On Saturday, the Mooch was seen out in New York’s Hamptons at the Blue Dream Gala, a Joe Biden campaign event in the tony town of Southampton, according to the Washington Examiner.
However, he insisted that his presence at the event, hosted by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, shouldn’t be construed as support for Biden or a switch to the Democrats.
“I’m a registered Republican. I haven’t switched my support to Vice President Biden, but I will be working to find a nominee to challenge Donald Trump because he’s lost his mind and we’ve got to get someone here before we lose the election 2020,” Scaramucci said.
Right, because the best place to find a nominee to replace the president atop the ticket is … at a Joe Biden campaign event? Probably not, but who knows with the Mooch?

The Scaramucci tale has certainly been a strange one and I have no doubt it’ll get stranger than appearing at a Joe Biden campaign event.
Keep in mind that as late as Aug. 8, some 16 days before the fundraiser, Scaramucci was praising the president on CNBC for how he was handling the trade kerfuffle with China.
How did we get from there to a Biden fundraiser and talk of the president having “lost his mind?”
A phone interview, of course.
In case you’d forgotten, part of the reason why he managed to get himself fired from the communications director job less than two weeks into it was a vulgar phone call he made to Ryan Lizza, then with The New Yorker, about leakers.

It’s impossible to go through just how bizarre that call was, but here’s one quote that should give you a good idea of just how unhinged it got: “OK, the Mooch showed up a week ago. This is going to get cleaned up very shortly, OK? Because I nailed these guys. I’ve got digital fingerprints on everything they’ve done through the FBI and the f—ing Department of Justice.” I, uh, guess he didn’t get time to clean things up. (Here are some of the best quotes, although we warn you they’re vulgar. Reader discretion is advised.)
So anyway, Scaramucci decided to use an Aug. 11 phone interview with Axios to compare the president to a nuclear disaster.
“We are now in the early episodes of ‘Chernobyl’ on HBO, where the reactor is melting down and the apparatchiks are trying to figure out whether to cover it up or start the clean-up process,” Scaramucci said.
“A couple more weeks like this and ‘country over party’ is going to require the Republicans to replace the top of the ticket in 2020,” he added.
He began taking an active role in finding someone to “replace the top of the ticket in 2020,” apparently working with professional NeverTrumper Bill Kristol in order to find a replacement.
There has been a slew of interviews since then, including one with Vanity Fair in which Scaramucci gave a pop culture-tastic explanation of why Trump needs to be gone.
“You know, this is like ‘Game of Thrones.’ We need an Arya Stark, OK?” he told them.
“We gotta take this guy out because this is like the Night King. The minute the Night King is vaporized, all the zombies are gonna fall by the wayside, right? We had the Wicked Witch of the West, but he is the Wicked Witch of the West Wing. We gotta get some water thrown on him. He’ll start melting.”
This is a real interview, mind you, not reference-heavy dialogue from a bad episode of “Gilmore Girls.”
And then there’s been the social media back-and-forth between Scaramucci and the president:
It’s like a hostage crisis inside the @WhiteHouse and the hostages have Stockholm Syndrome. @realDonaldTrump as rev Jim Jones. When will it break?

Nobody ever heard of this dope until he met me. He only lasted 11 days! pic.twitter.com/RzX3zjXzga

…..other than the fact that this Administration has probably done more than any other Administration in its first 2 1/2 years of existence. Anthony, who would do anything to come back in, should remember the only reason he is on TV, and it’s not for being the Mooch!

We are now living in an American Nightmare scenario where we elected a MAD NIGHT KING. The last two weeks have been full blown TRUMPNOBYL and it will continue to get worse. Please call your public servants and ask them to act. . . https://t.co/ShpWH5FR8T

So what we know about Scaramucci is that he really likes references. If you look at his feed, you’ll notice he also likes retweeting every article about his about-face on Trump. This is fine, but if you want to suss out an ulterior motive for all of this, perhaps you should ask yourself how much we were talking about Anthony Scaramucci before this dust-up and how much he seems to like it now that we’re talking about him again.
As for the Biden event, the Mooch again used Twitter to insist he wasn’t there to support the Democrat frontrunner.
Ummm it was a charity event where @JoeBiden spoke. Many republicans there. Let’s cut the nonsense and replace @realDonaldTrump so we have a fair fight in Nov 2020. The @gop needs to back somebody sane. Let’s stay away from the madman for the sake of ??and the ?@DeidreScaramuc2 https://t.co/JeCUXoaycy

“Ummm it was a charity event where @JoeBiden spoke,” he wrote on Twitter.

Yes, it was a charity event … that was also a Biden campaign event. And it was plenty of free publicity for Anthony Scaramucci now that he’s doing his Trump apology tour. Not that I’m against people appearing places that will get them attention, but let’s also at least acknowledge this kind of stunt for what it is.
