Shaq comes to aid of car crash victims in busy LA intersection
Shaquille O’Neal has been sworn in as an honorary deputy marshal and even announced plans to run for sheriff in the near future.
“You know, when I was coming up, people love and respected the police, the deputies,” he said last year. “And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community I serve.”
Apparently Shaq can’t wait to get out there and help people in need.
On Friday, O’Neal was driving in Los Angeles and saw a two-car accident involving a Honda and a BMW, according to TMZ Sports.
The collision happened in the afternoon at one of LA’s busiest intersections, Sepulveda and Santa Monica boulevards.
The big guy thought it looked serious enough that he decided to stop his car, get out and see if anyone needed a hand.
Fortunately, it appeared that no one was seriously hurt, the report said.
Some people at the scene thought O’Neal was involved in the crash, “but he was really just a giant Samaritan,” TMZ said.

Shaq reportedly shook hands with a few people and then went on his way.
TMZ said no paramedics or police officers had to be called to the scene, but a tow truck was required for at least one of the vehicles.

Acts like this will have to tide O’Neal over until he launches his campaign for sheriff in an undetermined locale in 2020.
Shaq does have a background in law enforcement, at least on the silver screen. In 1997, he starred as a crimefighting superhero in the action movie “Steel.”
O’Neal also has experience with helping accident victims: He’s a pitchman for the auto insurance company The General.
