Sick: Lib Says Woman Should Have Just 'Let Him' Rob Her When Armed Mugger Approached

Share

Liberal journalist Zack Ford lamented on Twitter that a woman didn’t “let” her mugger rob her at gunpoint.

The Chicago Tribune reported that 19-year-old Laavion Goings Jr. pulled a weapon on a 25-year-old woman at a bus stop at around 5:45 a.m. in the Far South Side of Chicago. Goings told the woman, who was alone, he was robbing her.

The woman had a concealed carry license and shot him.  Authorities took Goings to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ford, LGBTQ editor for ThinkProgress, was not happy with the woman’s self-defense. According to Hot Air, Ford wrote in a since-deleted tweet, “Conservatives are thrilled a woman with a concealed-carry permit shot and killed a 19-year-old would-be mugger. That’s not how justice works. The penalty for theft is not death, nor do we want it to be.”

Ford didn’t mention that the would-be mugger was pointing a gun at the woman. Armed robbery isn’t mere “theft.” It comes with a threat of force. In this case, the threat was murder.

Besides that, self-defense is not punishment. Here, a woman responded to a criminal’s threat of violence with a proportionate amount of violence.

Ford’s outrageous opinions didn’t end there.  He called the 19-year-old “a kid” and wrote, “I just feel like we’re being way too disposable with his life.  A gun death is a gun death, and the fact that she was able to protect herself in no way motivates me to change my belief that she should not have had a gun in the first place.”

Do you think the woman had a right to be armed?

Wow.  First of all, I think the mugger threatening to kill a woman if she didn’t give him her wallet was the one being “disposable” with life.

How can liberals claim to be on the side of women when they spew stuff like this?  Ford claimed that the woman shouldn’t have had a gun, despite acknowledging that it allowed her to get away with her life.

Ford’s anti-woman drivel didn’t end there. In his most disturbing deleted tweet, he claimed that if the woman “had let him rob her, even at gunpoint, both likely would have survived.”

In the name of opposing the Second Amendment, a leftist advocated that a woman should have “let” her attacker victimize her because then everything would have been okay. What an insane claim to make. Who is Ford to know that the woman would have survived? Has the left really sunken this far?

Then again, why should we be surprised? This is the side whose idea of supporting women is promoting abortion and pornography. These are perverse people who clothe themselves in the mask of modern-day feminism.

Ford deleted his tweets after they got waves of backlash. Talk radio host and National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch was among those who called him out.

Ford issued a series of apologies, but even his they were perverse. He backtracked by saying that he never intended to suggest that conservative news outlets were happy about death. But that’s exactly what he said when he wrote that “Conservatives are thrilled” about a 19-year old being killed.

He also didn’t apologize for the worst part of his original tweets, where he pushed the idea that the woman should have let it happen. Instead, he continued to state that he didn’t believe guns could make some people safer.

It’s ludicrous that the left could say that a woman who acted completely in self-defense shouldn’t have had a gun on her. Instead, Ford seemed to believe that the victim should have been looking out for the attacker’s safety.

The fact that a 19-year-old died is tragic. But unfortunately, it was Goings’ decision to create a situation where the consequences of his actions could have resulted in his or another person’s death.

The left doesn’t understand that people are responsible for the outcomes of their own behavior. They’d prefer that a woman be unable to defend herself than admit that guns can be used for good.
