Single Mother of 3 Who Rides Bus 5 Hours a Day Gifted SUV from Charity Group

Maybe you associate the term “Mama Bear” with a childhood bedtime story featuring porridge and Goldilocks. But if your life has been blessed by a hard-working mother, you know this simple phrase signifies so much more.

For many family units, Mom is an unsung hero. She makes lunches, comforts hurting hearts, doles out discipline, whips up dinners, and generally keeps the whole household humming right along.

Often, all these activities leave little room for personal time. And single mothers are particularly self-sacrificing.

Many single moms are forced to hold down a job and juggle family demands as a matter of basic survival. There’s always so much to do, and absolutely zero time for self-pity.

This is just one reason why Florida-based Midas, Inc. launched an initiative called Project Spark in 2018.

The company website explains that Midas auto repair shops are committed to their local communities. As the Project Spark web page proclaims, “We want to ignite change all around us.”

Clearly, this mission is already being accomplished. Just ask a busy single mom named Jasmine.

Jasmine resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She recently told Inside Edition that her typical day was an exhausting blur of activity.

Because Jasmine didn’t own a car, she was spending roughly five hours daily commuting on the bus. Her three kids are her first priority, after all, and they each have various requirements.

For Jasmine, attempting to support all these needs would often result in an almost crushing sense of responsibility. “I break down at times and I cry,” she told Inside Edition.

But Jasmine said she also prays about her situation regularly. “I try to think about my kids, and how I love them and what’s best for them, and that drives me to do what I need to do,” she said.

Jasmine also explained that it was tough to secure a better job, further away from her home. “I don’t like to apply to farther jobs because I can’t get there with my schedule with my kids,” she said.

Midas heard about Jasmine’s story. And they decided that a single parent this driven deserved to drive a car of her own.

So Project Spark stepped in with a new SUV. It was donated by Florida-based non-profit organization 1-800-Charity Cars, which regularly helps support families in need.

A team of skilled mechanics spent about $2,000 in parts and labor fixing up the SUV. Obviously, dependable performance is critical when a devoted mom needs to transport her young family.

Then the keys were presented to a grateful and overjoyed Jasmine. “Wow, I can’t believe it,” she exclaimed in a YouTube video that has quickly gone viral.

Jasmine told Inside Edition that this new vehicle will alleviate a lot of stress — and help her pursue that better job. Thanks to this generous gesture, she’s now driven by a rejuvenated sense of hope.
