Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Responds to Ben Shapiro's Debate Request With Absurd Accusation

Share

Conservatives often accuse socialists of refusing to debate them because their Marxism cannot compete in the “market place of ideas.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley in the New York Democratic primaries, is a perfect case in point.

The self-described democratic socialist has refused the challenge of Ben Shapiro, the conservative editor-in-chief of the Daily Wire, to debate her views on his radio program, “The Ben Shapiro Show.”

Not even money will make her appear.  Promising a civil conservation, Shapiro told her if she would debate him he would contribute $10,000 to her campaign.

“I’m willing to offer $10,000 to your campaign, today, for you to come on our Sunday special.”

What sparked Shapiro’s challenge was Ocasio-Cortez’s accusation that Republicans were too scared to debate her. Shapiro accepted the challenge, saying, “You’ve noted that you think Republicans are afraid to debate you or talk to you or discuss the issues with you.”

But Ocasio-Cortez refused the challenge because it was “sexist.”

“Just like catcalling, she tweeted, “I don’t owe a response to unsolicited requests from men with bad intentions. And also like catcalling, for some reason they feel entitled to one.”

Is Ocasio-Cruz Scared To Debate Ben Shapiro?

But Shapiro refused to play that “politically correct” game, tweeting, “Discussion and debate are not “bad intentions.” Slandering someone as a sexist catcaller without reason or evidence does demonstrate cowardice and bad intent, however.”

Of her refusal, Shapiro told Fox News he wasn’t surprised:

Ocasio-Cortez is wise to refuse, for she is spin over substance. For example, she has yet to tell voters how she will fund her campaign promise to provide Medicare for All.

If there is a lesson to be learned from the 20th Century, it is that Marxism has failed.  But leftists have never given up on it but more often than not refuse to defend it in a debate.

George Orwell, often critical of socialist phrase-mongering, once challenged Utopian socialist H.G. Wells to explain how he would implement his idea of a world government.  Wells could only flounder, and was reduced to calling Orwell “a little s—.”

Like Wells, Ocasio-Cruz has nothing new to offer and no road map of how to implement her ideologically bankrupt ideas.
