Spoiled Dog Gets Own Bedroom After Owner Turns Spare Closet into Pup Paradise
Raise your hand if you’re a proud dog owner who sometimes spoils your pooch in over-the-top, slightly-ridiculous ways.
Yes, dog owners do wild, inexplicable things with unabashed joy when it comes to loving their fur child.
A proud dog mom turned a spare closet into a pup’s paradise, giving the space a purrfect makeover that is safe, functional and HGTV-worthy.
Her Chihuahua named Cupid lives in his own Pinterest-type bedroom complete with a four-post bed and closet full of doggie clothes.
Betsy Redfern of Richland, Mississippi, adores her 12-year-old Chihuahua. They’ve been together since Redfern was in third grade.
When she moved away for her freshman year of college, she had to leave Cupid behind.
The separation was difficult, so when Redfern had the chance to take Cupid with her to school during her sophomore year, she celebrated by making sure Cupid would live in luxury.
The spare closet that probably used to be filled with typical storage items has been transformed into Cupid’s special bedroom.
Cupid has plenty of cozy blankets to snuggle with on top of his white four-post bed.
He has a small basket of doggie toys, a gray carpet, a valance to match his bedspread and a nameplate perfectly hung above his bed.
“The bed was designed by my mom and she sewed everything herself,” Redfern told The Dodo in 2017.
When Christmas rolled around, Redfern even added a tiny tree with lights so Cupid could properly celebrate, too.
“I was just decorating my apartment for Christmas, so I figured a tree would be a nice addition,” Redfern said. “I like to spoil him, and he ‘needed’ it.”
The space is certainly cute, but it also serves as a protective, functional space for her pet.
“Cupid’s room has been so great because I am able to put a baby gate up and keep him in there when I go to class so I know he is safe and cozy,” Redfern told Pop Sugar.
Cupid shares the sweet space with Redfern’s pet turtle, because hey — Cupid could use a roommate, too.
