A multiple-time Vezina winner as the best goalie in the NHL, Ed Belfour spent beefy chunks of time with the Blackhawks, Stars, and Maple Leafs. If you squint hard and tilt your head a little you might even be able to remember his last year in the league, in which he suited up for 58 games in a Florida Panthers uniform. But it’s the end of the 1996-1997 season we’re focusing on, that time when he played 13 games for an out-of-contention San Jose Sharks after being acquired from the Blackhawks in return for three players and a second-round pick.
