From 1956 to 1967, Johnny Unitas exhibited the type of ability for the Baltimore Colts that’s landed him on nearly every Greatest Football Players list ever created. His play during his last five years on the Colts was not as stellar, throwing just 35 touchdowns against 57 interceptions in that time frame. As a result, he was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1973, but only lasted four games before being replaced by rookie Dan Fouts. Unitas would retire before the start of the 1974 season.
