Steelers Superstar Reportedly Involved in Domestic Dispute, Not Arrested

Once again Antonio Brown is making headlines that have nothing to do with his play on the football field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver was involved in a domestic dispute in January while in Florida but was not arrested, according to reports.

TMZ Sports said a woman contacted the Hollywood, Florida, Police Department and alleged misconduct by Brown.

The outlet quoted a department spokesman as saying, “Mr. Brown was involved in a domestic dispute. No arrests were made.”

Andy Slater, a sports talk host at WMEN-AM in South Florida, posted what he said was a copy of the incident report on Twitter.

The document states that Brown pushed a woman, causing her to fall backward to the ground and hurt her wrist.

The woman later refused to complete a victim affidavit, according to the document.

Brown’s attorney, Darren Heitner, issued a statement to ESPN calling the allegations “baseless and false.”

“It’s unfortunate that the media is trying to use distractions like this and prior stories in an effort to tarnish my client’s name and reputation,” Heitner said. “We have no further comment.”

The Steelers issued a statement Wednesday in which they said they are looking into the incident.

The NFL said it will investigate the situation.

“We will look into the matter,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told NBC Sports.

Brown was born in South Florida and lives there during the offseason.

Last April, he allegedly threw items off a 14th-floor balcony in Sunny Isles Beach that nearly struck a child. The guardian of the boy sued Brown for “intentional infliction of emotional distress and assault” in October.

One month later, Brown was cited for speeding over 100 mph just hours before the Steelers played the Carolina Panthers.

Then in December, he was a no-show at practice before the team’s last game following a confrontation with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger earlier in the week.

All of these transgressions drove Steelers owner Art Rooney II to say it was “hard to envision” Brown returning to the team in 2019.

The Steelers are open to trading him, and 49ers great Jerry Rice said Brown “really badly” wants to play for San Francisco.

Brown has a $2.5 million roster bonus due on March 17 and that essentially works as a drop-dead date for a potential trade. If the Steelers don’t plan on having Brown around for next season, they will move him before that date in order to avoid paying him the bonus.
