The White House made the announcement after two Senate proposals to end the stalemate failed.

Sen. John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican, introduced a bill which would have paid members of the Coast Guard. Chuck Schumer shot it down.

According to a report, the money could come from several places.

'Incoming White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney warned that it is “very possible” the partial government shutdown will run into 2019.'

'The House and Senate are reportedly working with a "skeleton crew” and are not expecting to vote until after Christmas.'

The White House press secretary noted even Mexico is doing more to secure the border than the Democrats are.

'The Senate voted against the government funding bill 48-47, as many Senators were not present for the floor vote.'

'The DoD backed up President Donald Trump's assertion that he could have the military build a border wall if Congress refuses to fund one.'

'People are pouring into our country, including terrorists.'

'We’ll have rules of decorum -- you know, you can’t keep asking questions.'
