A jockey has been suspended 60 days for misusing his whip — not on a horse — but on another rider in a race at an Arkansas track.

A 23rd horse has died after an incident at the Santa Anita racetracks. The incident marks the latest death in a span of just over 3 months.

Santa Anita will reopen its main dirt track for limited training Monday nearly a week after the historic racetrack was closed.

According to the horse's trainer, Jean-Marie Béguigné, the horse has a 'penchant for escape.'

'It just sort of happened. I got back on and he drew himself back into the race. He's got plenty of ability.'

'It definitely seemed to me he was more of an offensive lineman than a racehorse trying to win the Belmont.'
