Three names have emerged as frontrunners in the race to replace Mitch McConnell as leader of the Senate GOP conference.

McConnell has come under fire for refusing to endorse Trump, secure the border and curbing the nonstop aid to Ukraine.

Securing the endorsement puts Trump closer to clinching the GOP nomination and perhaps seeing more Republicans coalesce around him.

Senate Republicans will vote against the proposed border bill that includes funding for Ukraine and Israel proceeding to a floor vote.

"When Mitch McConnell steps down as Senate GOP leader, which won’t happen anytime soon, John is sure to replace him."

Senators Ted Cruz and John Thune reintroduced legislation this week to send the death tax to its grave.
