Burchett said of the alleged attack from McCarthy that "it's just who he is, and it's unfortunate," but that he's moved on.

“As I’ve stated many times, he's a bully with $17 million in a security detail,” Burchett said during the interview with the outlet.

An ethics complaint is the latest evidence of the chasm that has opened among Republican members of the House.

One journalist is alleging that former Speaker Kevin McCarthy assaulted a House Republican in a hallway of the Capitol.

”When people do something like he did I always wonder why they don’t look at themselves,” one of McCarthy’s targets told CNN.

“They care a lot about press, not about policy, and so they seem to just want the press and the personality," McCarthy said.

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect ... them against Invasion."

Before becoming speaker of the House, Mike Johnson amassed a reliably conservative and pro-Trump voting record.

In a statement, the self-described “America First” advocate accused McCarthy of being part of what he called “permanent Washington.”

Bowman insisted he "was rushing to make a vote" when he pulled the alarm because he thought it opened a door.
