The Department of Justice may have investigated President Joe Biden, but they spent a lot more looking into former President Donald Trump.

The legal team for former President Donald Trump filed a contempt of court motion against special counsel Jack Smith on Thursday.

The attorneys argue that impeachment is the proper check on official presidential acts, not criminal prosecution.

Michael Cohen worked for Trump for years and had been referred to as his “fixer,” handling Trump family business in and out of court.

Trump has insisted for years that he was prepared to send National Guard troops to the Capitol to maintain order.

"The Maine State Police is working with our law enforcement partners to provide special attention to any and all appropriate locations."

But legal experts have noted that much of Trump's conduct Smith claims was criminal appears to be protected by the First Amendment.

The Colorado Supreme Court removed Trump from the state's ballot using an interpretation of a 155-year-old constitutional provision.

"I wish Trump hadn't been indicted on any of this stuff," the Florida governor said.
