Sen. Rand Paul voiced his scorn on Tuesday for those trying to keep schools closed in the fall due to fears of a second coronavirus surge.

'We have no money, we have no rainy day account, we have no savings account,' Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said this week on Fox News.

As of Friday evening, there were at least 1,693 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, according a statement from the Democratic governor.

The libertarian-leaning Republican from Kentucky shared an update regarding his health to Twitter on Tuesday, letting his followers know he is virus-free. 

Paul’s announcement on Sunday that he’d contracted the virus led to other Republican lawmakers who had contact with him deciding to go into self-isolation.

Paul is the first member of the Senate to announce he has the disease. He is not the first member of Congress to contract it, though.

The Kentucky Republican was censored last week by Chief Justice John Roberts when he tried to ask a question at President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

Democrats have shot themselves in the foot by doing what they accused Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul of doing, naming the whistleblower.
