Teddy Bears Rain from Sky on Kids from Children Hospital at Soccer Match
I’m not a huge sports fan, if I’m being honest. I have no idea how many points are given for a touchdown, and I couldn’t tell you the difference between a fullback and a quarterback.
But I do love attending live games. Little league or big league — I love it all. There’s just something about watching a game up close with a coke in one hand and a hot dog in the other.
I may have no idea what’s going on, but it’s the atmosphere I go for. Excited fans and home runs and those big foam hands make me all warm and fuzzy inside.
The best part is when the winners of the big game shout, “I’m going to Disney World!” Do people still do that?
I may only be rooting for my team because I always root for the underdog, but what does it matter as long as I’m having fun?
Like most sports, I don’t know much about soccer. But a recent surprise rained down at a Dutch soccer game, and it’s one that has certainly grabbed a lot of attention.
Sports Bible reported that children from Erasmus Sophia Hospital in the Netherlands were in attendance at the Feyenoord-Excelsior soccer match on August 19.
The game was going well for the Feyenoord team as their star players scored several points. But it was Excelsior fans who stole the spotlight at 19 minutes in.
Nineteen minutes into the big game on August 19th? Makes it sound like something magical was about to take place, right?
It did, but no one was heading to Disney World. Instead, the children in the stands were showered with teddy bears by Excelsior fans. Watch this incredible moment and try not to smile too big.
The away team may not have been winning, but I’d say the affection they showed these children was a win of its own.
According to Sporting News, this isn’t the first time a gesture of this sort of epic proportion has occurred. In 2016, Ado Den Haag fans did something similar at the same stadium.
Feyenoord took home their first win of the season, while the children in the stands took home something much more valuable.
Way to go, Excelsior! Your fans certainly know how to show good sportsmanship and team spirit!
