Teen Girl Gives 'American Idol' Judges Goosebumps, Call Her the 'Next Kelly Clarkson'

Share

From tears to goosebumps, “American Idol” hasn’t failed us yet this season. In fact, if you think you’ve seen the best of the auditions so far, think again.

Madison VanDenburg is a 16-year-old high school student who says she’s been “gigging” all her life. In other words, this teen lives and breathes music.

Taking piano lessons from a young age, VanDenburg says auditioning for the show has been her dream. Now she’s ready to shine.

Her confidence and poise make her seem wise beyond her 16 years. When she gets on the piano and starts to sing, you won’t believe what you’re hearing.

Or, perhaps you will. After all, Kelly Clarkson was only 20 when she auditioned for the first season of “American Idol. ” Which makes us wonder what VanDenburg will sound like in four more years.

At this point, we can’t imagine her being better than she already is. This young lady is a star. We can definitely see her rising to the top of season 17.

Watch as she sings “Speechless” by Dan + Shay. The judges’ reactions are priceless. It’s clear Katy Perry got goosebumps right along with us. Even Luke Bryan started rubbing his arms!

When they give her a standing ovation at the end, I couldn’t help but get goosebumps, too! What a voice! How is this girl only 16?

Lionel Richie jokingly asked VanDenburg how old she really is. When she tells him once again that she’s just 16, he asks, “Do you know what you just did?”

VanDenburg appears to catch her breath as Richie continues, “You rendered us speechless, to the point where Katy is showing me goosebumps on her arm.”

Perry then claims these are her “first goosebumps.”

Can you believe this girl is only 16?

“I really thought that I had lost all feeling for some reason,” Perry says.

Perry goes on to tell VanDenburg she thinks she’s “as good as Kelly Clarkson.”

“You could be the next Kelly Clarkson,” Perry said. “You’re a massive star.” Richie and Bryan agreed.

If that isn’t the highest compliment of all “American Idol” compliments, we don’t know what is! Do you think Madison VanDenburg is the next American Idol?

We think she has a pretty good shot! To follow her journey or listen to her debut single “Need A Little Heartbreak,” visit her Facebook or YouTube pages.
