Teens Push Woman's Car for Over 5 Miles After Spotting Her Broken Down Along Highway
We’ve all been there — our vehicle breaks down at the most inopportune time. It’s dark or in the middle of nowhere or the weather is extreme.
And yet we’re stranded. And the worst part? We just spent our entire paycheck on something else whether it be a medical bill or school tuition.
Auto problems are the worst, too. If you’re without roadside assistance coverage, a tow truck can cost a fortune, not to mention the cost of having the vehicle fixed.
But there are good Samaritans out there. While one group of teen boys from Canada couldn’t help fix a stranded car, they could get it to the place it needed to be.
Aeron McQuillin, Bailey Campbell and Billy Tarbett encountered a woman in distress after midnight one evening on their way to a local fast-food chain.
The woman’s vehicle had smoke coming from beneath the hood.
“This poor lady got this car 6 weeks ago, and it now looks like needs a new engine,” Dan Morrison, a man who witnessed the incident, wrote on Facebook.
That’s when the trio of teenage boys stopped to help.
“They couldn’t leave this lady stranded,” Morrison wrote, “so these young men pushed a [stranger’s] car……….9km.” That’s over 5 miles!
“We were at the right place at the right time,” 18-year-old McQuillin told The Standard. “And this is one of those stories that we can look back on in 10 years and say it was one of those crazy things we did, but it was all worth it.”
It was Billy who said they ought to push the car to the driver’s home since she couldn’t afford a tow truck.
“We had nothing better to do,” he told The Standard. “But even if we did I would like to think we would have helped her anyway.”
Morrison captured the act of kindness and shared photos on his Facebook page. The post has been shared over 23,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
Morrison hopes the boys will get the recognition they deserved.
