Tim Tebow receives invitation to return to pro football

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the XFL is officially coming back.

Multimillionaire Vince McMahon on Thursday announced the league will kick off in 2020 with eight teams playing a 10-game regular season.

His plan is to give the game of football “back to the fans.”

After his announcement, McMahon took questions from reporters.

One of the questions asked came from Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated.

“Will the invites be extended to players like Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow and Colin Kaepernick?” asked Traina.

“When I said the quality of human being is very important and just as important as the quality of the player, what I mean by that is you want someone who does not have any criminality whatsoever associated with them,” said McMahon.

“In the XFL, even if you have a DUI, you will not play in the XFL,” he added.

Would you like to see Tim Tebow playing in the XFL?

McMahon then extended an official invitation to Tim Tebow to join the XFL.

“If Tim Tebow wants to play, he can very well play,” said McMahon.

Tebow fans quickly jumped to Twitter to announce their excitement about the possibility of the former Heisman winner coming back to football.

Since the XFL will not start playing until 2020, it is possible that Tebow could give it a shot despite his recent transition to baseball.

The 30-year-old Tebow is entering his second season in the New York Mets organization as he gears up for spring training in just a couple of months.

By 2020, Tebow should have a pretty good indication of whether he has a shot to make it to the big leagues.

Tebow hit a combined .226 between the Low-A and High-A affiliates of the Mets last season.
