Politician in Hot Water after Girlfriend Makes Racist Remarks about Meghan Markle

Share

Much of the world has been enthralled and beguiled by the love story of Great Britain’s Prince Harry and his soon-to-be-bride, Meghan Markle.

When the popular prince and American actress announced their engagement, social media erupted in adoring celebration of this real-life fairy tale romance.

Markle has been perfectly candid about describing her mixed-race ancestry, which has endeared her to many women around the world. Yet unfortunately, some on social media have been less than supportive.

For example, it was recently reported that UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Henry Bolton had broken up with his girlfriend Jo Marney. The reason?

Marney allegedly shared a series of recent text messages with a friend. And many onlookers are describing her pointed comments as “indefensible.”

In summary, 25-year-old Marney reportedly said that Prince Harry’s “black American” fiancée will “taint” the Royal family with “her seed.” She also purportedly suggested that this could eventually result in a “black king.”

Marney also made some highly controversial observations about black people in general — and Markle in particular. The self-described model, actress, and journalist reportedly referred to those with black heritage as ugly, while asserting that Markle herself possessed a “tiny brain.”

According to sources, Marney apologized “unreservedly” for the “shocking language” used in the messages reported by the media. She claimed they had been taken out of context.

The 54-year-old Bolton, for his part, noted that he was “appalled” by these expressed sentiments.

He told news sources that they were made “in the heat of the moment,” and maintained that they were “not meant for the public eye.”

Almost immediately after Marney’s comments came to public attention, UKIP’s chairman promptly suspended her. Speaking with media sources, Bolton refused to speculate on whether she should actually be removed from the party, asserting that the decision had “nothing to do with him.”

Reportedly, Marney’s comments spurred widespread calls for Bolton himself to resign as UKIP leader. However, Bolton told news sources that the party “can’t afford a leadership change,” and proclaimed that he was “pushing forward” with current agenda items.

Media sources had previously indicated that prior to going public with his relationship, Bolton had left his 42-year-old wife Tatiana and their two children. He announced his relationship with Marney in a letter to UKIP supporters earlier this month, though rebuffed any claims that it was a “clandestine affair.”

The latest reports indicate that Bolton ultimately opted to break up with Marney after “many hours of difficult conversation.”

If he were to leave UKIP altogether, it would force the party to elect its fifth leader in 18 months.

Meanwhile, much of the world waits with great anticipation for the upcoming royal wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle both avidly support an extensive range of humanitarian causes, and appear fully focused on making the world a more caring, inclusive place.
