Video of Age 5 Boy After Finishing Cancer Treatment Will Leave You Grinning from Ear-to-Ear
A Seattle boy has finished his last cancer treatment — and is dancing to Michael Jackson in the most celebratory way.
When we first met 5-year-old Solomon Haufano, we learned that he’d been battling cancer at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Solomon had been diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumor, a type of cancer that was found in his abdomen.
Solomon and his mother, Leni Lutui, had been anticipating 2019 as the year that Solomon could break free from hospital life, begin to heal and enjoy the rest of his carefree childhood.
Sure enough, as 2018 came to a close, so did Solomon’s cancer treatments.
Solomon, who became a rising star thanks in part to his incredible Michael Jackson dance moves, celebrated the New Year in a big way.
He danced, of course, to one of his favorite Michael Jackson tunes, “Billie Jean.”
The video has been viewed over a million times, with people around the country celebrating alongside young Solomon.
Lutui said her son has been through a lot in his young life, but he’s come out strong.
She’s proud of the way her little champion has weathered the cancer storm and that he’s been such a light to others along the way.
Solomon is not the only family member to experience life change because of cancer.
“Solomon’s dad passed away from brain cancer just four years prior, when Solomon was only 10 months old,” Lutui told People magazine.
“To get the news that he was diagnosed with cancer of the abdomen, it was one of the hardest news we’ve received since his dad passed away.”
As the family persevered through Solomon’s cancer journey, they found levity in dancing. Solomon’s dancing brought comfort not only to his own family, but to other families who are trying to navigate painful seasons, too.
“(The videos have) definitely shared a light of hope and faith to others who might’ve seen their situation as a difficult one,” Lutui told People magazine.
“There’s always something to be thankful for, or to dance and celebrate about, even if it’s just waking up the next morning.”
Hopefully, 2019 will leave Solomon feeling stronger than ever before and he’s able to perfect those dance moves to his heart’s content.
