Watch: Dem Candidate Caught Stealing from Potential Voter
Kevin Hensley, a member of the Delaware House of Representatives, walked door-to-door handing out pamphlets to potential voters Sunday. Hours later, his Democratic opponent used underhanded tactics for political gain, and unfortunately for Monique Johns, the only person she can blame is herself.
Video posted by Randy Smith clearly shows Johns walking onto a front porch and stealing a pamphlet left by her opponent earlier that day.
After the video went viral, Johns was quick to confess that she was the thief captured on video. She called the incident a “lapse of judgment,” adding that she regrets doing it, Delaware Online reports.
Her admission and apology come an entire day after the incriminatory video was posted to Facebook.
Responses to her theft were brutal. The Delaware Democratic Party’s chairman even scorched Johns for her blunder, chastising her for treating elections like “win-at-all-cost prank wars.”
Hensley, who previously defeated Johns in 2016, said “the video speaks for itself,” but graciously encouraged voters to remain focused on the issues.
Although stealing the pamphlet may have only potentially influenced a few votes, it shows how low some on the left are willing to go. The entire video throws her credibility into question. If someone is willing to steal for a few votes, what will they do for hundreds or thousands more?
Unfortunately for Democrats, Johns isn’t the first to have dirty political tactics caught on video.
In August of this year, a Democratic state representative in Hawaii was caught stealing pamphlets left by his opponent. Thankfully, a doorbell video caught the entire thing.
Matt LoPresti, the man caught in the video, offered a meek excuse. He did not deny taking the material, instead insisting that he returned it “that very same day.”
Just a day before the primary election, a video is making the rounds online that shows state Rep. Matt LoPresti stealing his opponent’s campaign handout off of a resident’s door. https://t.co/JsIXUTiUkQ #HINews pic.twitter.com/MQudIUtYHY

A video posted to the YouTube channel “Republican Party of Riverside County” claims a similar incident occurred in June, during a race for California’s 60th Assembly District.
In the video, a man reported to be a campaigner for Democrat Sabrina Cervantes appears to take mailers left by her opponent.
Free elections in the United States depend on respect for the voter. These thefts show a basic lack of that. All Americans, regardless of political party, should firmly reject “tactics” like these.
