Watch Superstar 'Pink' Stop Concert & Jump Off Stage To Comfort Teen Whose Mother Died
Celebrities can seem almost unreal at times — plastic people living inside perfect worlds and glamorous lifestyles.
But our favorite stars are people too. In recent years we’ve seen more and more celebrities show appreciation for their fans.
Taylor Swift visited a burn victim in the hospital, and Drake did something similar, visiting a little girl with a heart condition on her 11th birthday.
While these visits may seem like nothing more than publicity stunts to some, true fans know these acts are genuine and heartfelt.
Superstar Pink is no different. The singer has been on her “Beautiful Trauma” World Tour, with concerts scheduled everywhere from Melbourne, Australia to Los Angeles, California.
But one show will undoubtedly stand out among the rest. Though the tour will carry clear into 2019, Pink’s visit to Brisbane, Australia, this month will remain unforgettable.
Leah Murphy, a 14-year-old girl from Queensland, had plans to attend the Sydney concert with her mother, Debbie.
Sadly, only a couple of months before their mother-daughter date, Debbie passed away, the ABC reported.
Katrina Donkin, Leah’s aunt, made plans to take her to the concert. Unfortunately, Pink rescheduled some of her tour dates due to illness.
Donkin was able to land some tickets to the Brisbane concert, and she and Leah flew out for the event, the teen and her dad, Chris, told Yahoo.
But then Donkin realized she’d left the tickets at home. After some quick thinking and a little help from Donkin’s neighbor, the tickets made it safely to the girls in Brisbane.
During the concert, Leah held up a sign that read, “My name’s Leah. I’m 14 years old and I just lost my beautiful mum. I would love a hug.”
Other concert-goers helped by passing the sign around until it caught the superstar’s attention. What happened next is truly incredible.
The message made its way to Pink and she stopped the show. She then walked off the stage and through the crowd to give Leah the hug she needed.
“Pink was just so genuine,” Donkin told ABC. “She said, ‘Hey, don’t cry, everything’s going to be okay.'”
The star took a selfie with the teen. “She is so heartbroken,” Donkin told CBS. “But since the concert, she hasn’t stopped smiling and singing.”
Donkin explained that Leah and Debbie shared a special bond over Pink’s music. This perfect moment clearly brought some light into the teen’s heart during this time of grieving.
“I believed she [Debbie] orchestrated the whole thing and sent her little girl a hug from heaven,” Donkin said. I wouldn’t doubt it. What a precious gift Leah will probably treasure forever.
