Watch: Tim Tebow Delivers Another Big Game, Continues To Heat Up at the Plate

Share

Tim Tebow didn’t get off to a great start this season in the minors, but he has continued working hard and trying to get better.

That work is starting to pay off, as Tebow has been enjoying more success lately for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.

The most recent indication of that came Tuesday night as the Mets topped the Rochester Red Wings, the Minnesota Twins’ Triple-A affiliate, at Frontier Field.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback continued swinging a hot bat in the Mets’ 9-7 loss, collecting two hits in four at-bats and blasting a home run in the fourth inning.

It was his second home run over the past week and third overall of the season.

Tebow’s statistics on the season are still rough, but his numbers have gotten much better over the past 10 games.

Do you think Tim Tebow will make it to the majors?

In that span, he has hit .273 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs and bumped his batting average up to .163 overall on the year. Prior to this streak, Tebow was hitting .144.

He also homered in a June 28 game against the Buffalo Bisons, the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliate.

Tebow’s presence has been a positive for the Syracuse Mets in terms of attendance.

Last year, the ballclub averaged just 4,202 fans per home game, according to Minor League Baseball’s website.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Mets are averaging 4,497 fans this year.

In Tuesday’s road game against the Red Wings, the home team received a sharp bump in attendance, in part because of his presence.

The Red Wings announced 9,744 fans attended the game at Frontier Field, which was the third-highest total this season.

It’s unclear whether Tebow will ever play a game in the big leagues, but the former Heisman Trophy winner and devout Christian seems to garner attention anywhere he goes.
