Woman Buys Every Shoe at Payless, Donates Them All to Nebraska Flood Victims
Making a donation for a good cause is a wonderful thing to do. It always feels good to give back and lend a hand to those who need it.
There are some people who feel led to go above and beyond, of course. They know that every little bit helps, but they like to turn a little into a lot when they’re able.
This is precisely what 25-year-old Addy Tritt of Kansas did when it came time to helping flood victims in Nebraska.
Payless Shoe Source has been going out of business for a while now, and Tritt decided she’d take a little shopping trip before her local store closed its doors for good.
She could have bought a few pairs of shoes to donate and called it a day. Instead, she wiped the shelves clean, buying out the entire store for a good cause.

“I have been so blessed,” she told the Hays Post. “There have been so many great people in my life who have inspired me.”
“I see so many horrible things in the news,” she said. “So many people have helped me when I was down, I want to help if I can.”
Her purchase consisted of more than 200 pairs of shoes, which she bought for the bargain price of $100 after a bit of negotiating.
According to the Hays Post, if the shoes had been at full price they would have cost her more than $6,000. Looks like Tritt isn’t the only one to be praised for the generous donation.

It seems that Payless deserves a bit of credit for offering the shoes at such a low price, knowing they were going to people who desperately need them.
Tritt recently graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in human resources. The shoes she purchased for men, women and children were donated to FHSU’s flood relief shipment organized by the Sigma Alpha sorority.
“Thank you Addy for your incredible donation to our Sorority when we were doing our donation drop off locations last week!” Sigma Alpha wrote on Facebook.
“I’m Catholic and I believe that it’s just part of God’s plan for me to help people,” Tritt told CNN. “Whether it’s volunteering in a classroom or donating, that’s what I’m going to do.”
“I just hope this inspires other people to volunteer and donate if you have been blessed,” she added in her interview with the Hays Post.
We are inspired by people like Addy Tritt who put others first and put forth that extra effort to make a difference. We are praying for the flood victims and their families at this time.
