Woman Catches Moment Neighbor's Dog Rides Off into the Night on a One-Eyed Pony

Share

Most people can relate to that bizarre moment. You know — the one that usually happens when you’re semi-dozing, and you suddenly have a strange vision, and you think “Wait, did I just dream that?”

Maybe you see giant lasagna noodles attempting to steal all your valuables. Maybe Batman and Bruno Mars drop by for a quick PS4 grudge match.

Or maybe the neighbor’s Welsh corgi rides off into the starry night atop your one-eyed pony. No wait, that one actually happened.

As they say, it’s literally impossible to make this stuff up. It all started when 22-year-old Callie Schenker pulled into her own driveway in the tiny hamlet of Halfway, Missouri — about 30 miles from Springfield.

According to news reports, Schenker blinked multiple times. Then she laughed, grabbed her smartphone, and posted a 15-second Facebook video.

Surreal footage shows the corgi calmly standing on the back of Schenker’s cute one-eyed pony, Cricket.

Unsurprisingly, the resulting social media entry has since been viewed millions of times — and prompted dozens of questions.

Just for starters, how did the dog even get up there? Nobody has any idea.

What we do know — thanks to information Schenker has shared with various media outlets — is that she believes the dog’s name is Roper, and he apparently belongs to her Mennonite neighbors. We also know that Halfway is a rural area, and that certain residents tend to keep to themselves.

But according to Schenker, Roper the corgi seems mighty happy to mingle. She says that he sometimes strolls in through her doggie door, just so he can help himself to her canine’s kibble.

Additionally, she notes that around two days before the amusing “Corgi Cowboy” video was captured, she caught the pup standing on Cricket for the very first time.

Schenker says she hadn’t helped him up then, either — and she was so astounded that she only managed to take a quick snapshot.

But for his live-action closeup, Roper evidently decided to enhance the entertainment value even more. Schenker laughs that when Cricket began walking, the adventurous pup calmly stayed put.

“He rode it like people,” she said, recalling how the pooch even glanced over his shoulder as he moseyed off into the moonlight atop his trusty steed.

“That, to us, is the killer of the video — that he actually stayed on.”

So next time something seems utterly impossible, don’t be so quick to doubt or judge. Remind yourself that a Missouri canine has become an international sensation because he taught himself to ride a one-eyed horse.
